New Public Engagement Tool for Health

From Sciencewise, one of our favorite websites for science-related engagement information and practices.

"The Picker Institute has released a new online Public Engagement tool.

Although developed for those working in the health field, this resource is valuable to all those who might commission dialogue and work in the dialogue field. The tool offers the following features:

* An evidence review of the effectiveness of patient and public engagement in health
* Evidence-based recommendations for investing in engagement
* A one-stop-shop for patient and public engagement policy and resources.

The tool can help those commissioning dialogue in science and technology to understand some of the benefits they can expect from dialogue processes. The tool is among a number of other online resources which help those planning and designing public dialogue. These tools include:

* Involve’s www.peopleandparticipation.net which contains a process planner, methods and case study database
* The Sciencewise-ERC Knowledge Hub which contains tools, guidance and best practice, and publications
* The IDeA’s tool to help make the business case for engagement which contains tools, resources and guidance.

These tools can help those thinking about commissioning dialogue to build their business case in economically constrained times."
