Participatory Development Workshop from Sept 22-30

Our colleagues at Praxis - Institute for Participatory Practices in India have organized the 14th edition of its Workshop on participatory development.  This year's program will be held from 22nd to 30th September 2010 in India. The exact location and fees will soon be communicated by email and posted on the workshop website at www.theworkshop.in.

The Workshop is a platform for all the development workers, policy makers and proactive individuals to come together and enhance their skills in the field of participatory development, and share their knowledge and experiences. Its organized with an objective to:
1.Exchange ideas and experiences.
2.Create a worldwide network of trained PRA practitioners
3.Provide an in-depth understanding of the principles, approaches and methods of participatory practices.
4.Apprise participants of the latest innovations developed by practitioners from across the world.

To keep the learning and sharing interesting and fun the workshop follows a common learning programme, grounded in years of experience. This includes:
๏ An introductory module on Attitudes, Behaviours and Change (ABC) facilitated by Robert Chambers, one of the pioneers of the PRA /PLA and currently an IDS research associate
๏ Interactive classroom sessions within each thematic module
๏ Practical sessions in the field, hosted by locally renowned organisations
๏ Evening talks on diverse development related topics
๏ Film screenings on issues of relevance
๏ Thematic group discussions, workshop experience sharing and collective reflection
๏ Introduction to the latest publications and reference materials
