The National League of Cities' Center for Research and Innovation
will hold a free webinar, “Public Engagement Practices in Local Government,” on
Wednesday, June 23, at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
NLC established a CityFutures
Panel on democratic governance to support members seeking to engage citizens
more effectively in responding to their cities’ most daunting challenges and
promising opportunities. Members of the panel will highlight a range of public
engagement practices employed in their cities to effectively engage residents to
make decisions, overcome conflicts and solve critical problems.
Mark Linder, director of parks
and recreation, Cupertino, Calif., and chair of the Democratic Governance Panel,
will moderate the discussion. Featured presenters include Kerry Kincaid, council
president, Eau Claire, Wis., Mike Huggins, city manager, Eau Claire, Michele
Straube, coordinator, Salt Lake Solutions, Salt Lake City, and Christian
Harrison, chair, Downtown Community Council, Salt Lake City.
